Ancient Lakes is known for riesling with precision and lift. The vineyard sits on a rugged stretch of Central Washington, carved out by ice age floods and perched high above the Columbia River near the town of Quincy. Vines don’t have it easy here. Dry conditions, fast-draining soil and constant exposure to the elements keep them struggling, while big swings between warm days and cold nights slow the ripening just enough. Mother Nature is always in control — nurturing acidity, bringing forth citrus and orchard fruit flavors and instilling an unmistakable mineral edge. The result is wine that feels bright and a little electric, like when your song comes on, and you have the sudden and undeniable urge to dance.
